The state has appealed Judge Beatty's Opinion and Order to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. We will keep you up-to-date on the status. Incidentally, RSOL National (www.nationalrsol.org) may have the lead attorney for the plaintiffs in the case as a guest for July's RSOL in Action teleconference. When we have a fixed date, we'll let you know.

Why has there be NO news about this decision? Nothing on local news, nothing on national news.
The only place I've been able to see anything about this has been on the SOR support forums and web sites. Are NC elected officials embarrassed about the ruling and have asked for a press blackout.

There is a blog from Jamie Markham of UNC School of Government. https://www.sog.unc.edu/blogs/nc-criminal-law/federal-judge-enjoins-300-foot-rule-sex-offenders.

Do they not want registered citizens to know about this?

Is it being challenged on appeal in the courts. Is an appeal of the ruling possible?

Just my opinion, and maybe it's wishful thinking is that the SAG just gave in and allowed the ruling without a fight.

Or As Judge Beatty so plainly expressed, the defendants offered no fact based data that supported the defendants. They were only able to present opinions based on conjecture. If they had presented data it would have been in direct contradiction to their position.

This is a great victory for registered citizens. We need to unite and keep laws like this from getting passed. We must educate the public. The Media and politicians love portraying registered citizens as bad people who must be watched and punished beyond what the constitution allows for any citizen. What people need to realize is if they can separate a group of citizens and do whatever they want to them. who is to say you or one of your loved ones won't be in the next group they decide to seperate.
