I was told that sheriffs offices in N.C can pretty much do whatever they want , I questioned about going to an air show at Seymour AFB and was told no I can not go ,the air show is NOT strictly for kids so why was I excluded ? I was told they can do whatever they want .so collecting additional information or driving down your street with a bullhorn telling your neighbors your on the registry is ok

You know what is as stupid as hell?? We’ve got the best database developers in the country, right here in Wake County. How did California get involved with North Carolina dipping their paws into our tax money?? Not that I’m in favor of the database, it’s just that we can waste the money right here.

In Madison County the new 6 month form you have to fill out now asks for information on all vehicles owned, and name, DOB, and cell phone number of everyone in household.

Swain county sheriffs office has decided that they have the absolute right to photograph any and all vehicles I own or may drive.
I told them they were to enforce laws not make laws, there was no law that said I had to do that.that
They told me to take them to court.
Thinking about finding a lawyer and doing just that.
Do y’all know any lawyers in this area that will help?

In reply to William Hart. My local sheriffs office tried this with me and I very simply told them to show me a copy of the law. They tried to scare me into it but I stood my ground and they gave up.

Under what authority can sheriff’s collect this additional information?
I have seen nothing in the general statutes that authorize this additional data collection.

Great news! So, vehicles, jobs, travel……how many more “failure to report” offenses will this create? No more day trips to the beach if you don’t plan them and announce 15 days in advance? List all your vehicles to make you an easier target? (What if you have high-end vehicles? Where do you see this going Robin?
