The North Carolina Department of Revenue is partnering with a nonprofit alliance of tax software companies to provide free electronic tax filing services. 

This year, taxpayers with incomes as high as $60,000 for individuals and $92,000 for joint filers may be eligible for the NCfreefile program. Approximately seventy percent of North Carolinians can file their taxes online for free through the program.

Not only is it free for those who meet the income requirements, but online filing is easier and more accurate for taxpayers and refunds are processed more quickly.

State and federal taxes are due by April 18, 2023.
