Wake Sheriff Provided Registration By Phone During Covid-19
by Dwayne Daughtry (March 30, 2020) — The Wake County Sheriffs Office has mitigated sex offender requirements by implementing a direct telephone number to handle issues during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Any registrant residing in Wake County that has received an in-person certified letter notification should call (919) 856-6902 during business hours. However, in-person registration requirements have not stopped.
NCRSOL wants to thank Sheriff Baker for making accommodations for those impacted by the sex offender registry by making conditions safer for deputies and registrants.
Editors note: The sheriffs website misprinted the telephone number. NCRSOL staff has verified that the 919-856-6902 is the correct phone number.
11/13/2020 Update: In a phone conversation with Eric Curry, Wake County Sheriff Public Information Officer, NCRSOL was informed that in-person registration did not stop. Registrants with a mandatory in-person certified letter requirement are still required to appear. However, the Wake County website section pertaining to Sex Offender Registration queries has not changed/updated/deleted since March 27, 2020.
