AGE OF CONSENT/CRIMINALIZING JUVENILE SEXUAL ACTIVITY
NCRSOL takes no position on age of consent laws. NCRSOL believes it is each person’s responsibility to know the laws of the state in which he lives and follow the laws.
That said, NCRSOL believes that sexual activity that may be in violation of laws in some states should not be criminalized nor require registration. This includes:
* Consensual sexual play between pre-teens.
* Consensual sexual activity between teens who are close in age.
* Consensual sexual activity between teens and young adults who are close in age.
* Exchange of consenting teen-to-teen content by use of smartphone or other media device.
